WOOL FOR GERMANY
DECEMBER PURCHASES FOREIGN CURRENCY PERMITS (Received January 11, 6.15 p.m.) BERLIN, Jan. 10 The Minister of Economics, Dr. Schacht, states that permits for foreign currency granted in December for the purchase of wool amounted in value to 7,907,000 marks for South African wool and 8,006,500 for fleece from Argentina. CAPETOWN SHIPMENTS BRITISH LINES BARRED CAPETOWN", Jan. 10 Instruction received from Germany that wool purchased by German buyers must be shipped in German or Dutch steamers is adversely affecting British steamers. Tho Llandaff Castle sailed to-day with only 800 bales of wool. A similar practice is followed in regard to wool purchased on account of Italy, but when Italian steamers are not available any approved liner is used.
