COLLABORATORS AGAIN
" COVERED WAGGON" MAKERS The producer-director combination of Jesse L. Lasky and James Cruze, famed a decade ago for such spectacles as "The Covered Waggon," "Old Ironsides," and other silent "epics," has been reunited for the production of another spectacular film. Lasky, now producing for Fox Film, has chosen Cruze for the directorial job on "Helldorado," a saga of a modern band of travellers marooned in an abandoned California ghost-town. It will be one of the most ambitious undertakings of the pioneer producer who has made more than 1000 pictures 6ince he founded what is now Paramount just 20 years ago. Heading the cast is Richard Arlen, another Paramount veteran, who leaves that company after ten years to be a "free-lance," and plays his first independent role in "Helldorado." It was Lasky who gave Arlen his first screenrole when the producer was guiding production for the old Paramount organisation, and it was Cruze who directed the star in many of his early pictures.
