DEAR BOYS AND GIRLS, — I, too, joined the ranks of the holiday-makers last week only a very brief holiday, two days at Onetangi—but it gave me a glimpse of the beauty of a summer such as Auckland has seldom, if ever, known before. There was rain, and a strong wind, but the ocean rollers were crashing into the northern beaches of Waiheke in very fair imitation of those of the West Coast. And what splendid breakers they were for diving through—what a smother of surf as they broke on the hard beach. And then the lovely lazy hours of sun-bathing and the final plunge before running back to camp to dress! Of course I got shockingly sunburned, and my shoulders felt much the same as thousands of pairs of other sunburned shoulders have felt this last fortnight, but the memory of the fun lasts longer than that of the ,pain, and now I am bafik at work again, glad to think that the holidays are only half over for all our boys and girls, and the summer sun is shining just as genially as it has for the past two months. I have received a number of interesting holiday letters, but I want many more, and, as a new feature of our page, some of the best will be printed with illustrations. From our nature-lovers and members of our Native Flowers Circle I would like to receive accounts of bush rambles, of any little features or incidents connected with bird, plant or insect life. Prizes for all work published. There are just a few late acknowledgments to be made in connection with our Christmas Campaign, last-minute donations having been received as follows: Parcel.: "The Two BV; Don, Bob and Mane; Whakatu Brownie pack, per Joyce Horsley; M. and K. Lippincott; Alice Hirst; Elsie Hayward; W.A.H., St. Heliers. Donations: Mum and A., Ruawai, JOs; June, Mt. Eden, 2s 6d That brings our campaifrp total up to £27, which is X £7 more than our objective. Our best L/ A -A* thanks to you all! With love to you all, from ' + Your friend,
