VISITING BOWLERS
SOCIAL FUNCTION HELD LARGE NUMBER TRESENT Bowlers from all parts of New Zealand, who are competing in the annual Dominion tournament in Auckland, were welcomed at a social gathering last night by the president of. the New Zealand Bowling Council, Mr. Raymond Sheath, and Mrs. Sheath. The function was held in Milne and Choyce's Tudor Room and Reception Hall. About 1200 were present.
In extending a welcome to the visitors, Mr. Sheath said the patronage at the tournament* was a record. He hoped that those who had made the trip would return Kith pleasant memories. Thanks were due to Mr. F. A. Hosking, the Auckland president, for his assistance in making the occasion such a success.
Mr. Hosking expressed appreciation on behalf of the Auckland centre that there was a record number attending the tournament. The vice-president of the New Zealand Council, Mr. P. J. Good, of Christchurch, said that next year, when the tournament was held in Christchurch, they hoped to be, able to provide as pleasant a welcome as this one in Auckland.
Members of the New Zealand Council present included Mr. R. Hnnning (Dunedin), Mr. S. M. Stone (Wellington), Mr. E. Dingle (New Plymouth), Mr. H. Oakev CChristchurch) and Mr. J. Pascoe (Auckland). The tournament committee comprises Messrs. S. Coldicutt, 1?. Parker-Hill, E. W. Inder, J. H. Keith, I. J., Sutherland, W. H. Tongue, W. J. Truscott and A. E. Wbitten.
A programme of entertainment was provided.
