DESCRIPTION OF THE EMPIRE
LONDON, Jan. 2
"The Empire of the Fortunate Isles" is the Frankfurter Zeitung's description of the British Commonwealth, in an economic survey of world conditions, says the Berlin correspondent of the Times.
Strewn over five continents, the paper says, the Empire countries rise like islands from the sea of depression. Few other countries are on the upgrade; England's deep-rooted capital resources form the main source of the revival. The impulse to invest capital is so strong that the State is able to forego the interventions which always lead to new difficulties.
The article praises the Bank of England for its op-en-market policy.
