FARMER KILLED
RUN OVER BY WAGGON
RETURNING FROM FACTORY
[BY TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT] NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday
Fatal injuries through being run over by a milk waggon were received by Mr. Richard Peter Fleming, aged 30, of Rahotu, a married man, with one child. No one saw the accident so littlo is known of the circumstances. It is believed death was instantaneous. The body was discovered by neighbours whose attention was attracted by the runaway horses. Mr. Fleming had driven his two-horse milk waggon to a factory south of Raliotu, about three-quarters of a mile from his home, and was returning about 10 a.m. It appears that one or both of the horses stumbled and that, as Mr. Fleming held the reins, he was dragged from his seat to the ground, the waggon passing over his body. Mr. Fleming was a member of a prominent coastal family. He was very popular in the district, where he was regarded as one of the most progressive young farmers.
