AUCKLAND TEAM'S TOUR

PUBLIC INTEREST NECESSARY

FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY

In his report to a meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Cricket Association last evening, Mr. W. 11. Fee, manager of the Auckland team on its southern tour, eulogised the players, whom ho said were always cricketers both on and off the field. The team was treated with great hospitality, and all greatly enjoyed tiio tour. The trip undoubtedly showed that the interest of the public in cricket in New Zealand required a stimulus, for in all centres there wae a falling off in attendances. Mr. Feo thought this was due to the lack of big cricket and visits of overseas teams. He had discussed the idea of home and home matches with Otago, which was now very enthusiastic regarding the proposal. He thought that the matter of, umpires between Wellington and Auckland had no w been satisfactorily settled, and in future it was most likely that each province would agree to local officials. The following transfers were approved:— E A. Wigney, Eden to Parnell; I. H. Farndon, Bridgen's to Dearsley's.
