THE TELEPHONE

Sir, —Until some two or three years ago the Post anil Telegraph Department supplied a time service over the telephone, giving subscribers the correct time on inquiry. This service was highly appreciated by the public generally and was widely used by telephone subscribers. This service was taken away by the Government as an economy measure. Now that the Prime Minister and Mr. C'oates have definitely stated that we are on the upgrade a service as necessary and useful as this should be returned. A Subscriber.
