TRADE WITH CANADA
IMPROVEMENT RECORDED
BETTER SHIPPING SERVICES
NEW ZEALAND AND HALIFAX
The Canadian National Steamships' combined service from Eastern Canada to New Zealand and Australia has been discontinued, separate services to New Zealand and to Australia having been established.
The steamer Canadian Britisher, which is due at Auckland from Halifax about January 19, is inaugurating the new timo-table. The vessel will discharge and load at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin and will then return to Halifax, via New York and Boston, without visiting Australia. She is being followed by the Canadian Scottish, which is due at Auckland from Halifax about February 5, and will carry out a similar itinerary. The service is a monthly one. Arrangements have been made for steamers 011 the Canada-Australia service to j-eturn to Canada from Australia, via Auckland, where they will load. The Canadian Conqueror is scheduled to arrive at Auckland from Australia on February 6 to complete loading for New York, Boston and Halifax. She will be followed by the Canadian Cruiser, scheduled to arrive from Australia about February 20. During the Northern summer the steamers will load and dischargo at Montreal, instead of Halifax. Improvement in the trade with Canada has necessitated the change. Similar services were operated some years ago, but were discontinued owing to the slackness in the shipping trade.
