BERLIN OPERA HOUSE
DIRECTOR'S RESIGNATION
TROUBLE OVER CONDUCTOR
LONDON. Jan. 1
Maintaining that the appointment of Herr Krauss as conductor at the Berlin State Opera House has invalidated his own contract, Dr. Kleiber, DirectorGeneral, has again submitted his resignation, which General Goering refused to accept early in December. Dr. Kleiber states, according to the Berlin correspondent of the Times, that he did not object to Dr. Fuertwangler being associated with him, owing to their friendship, but that he object to a Viennese importation. Strenuous efforts are being made to induce Dr. Fuertwangler to resume his position as conductor. The management of the Philharmonio Orchestra announces that Dr. Furtwangler will not bo permitted to conduct the orchestra's concert in London in February. London promoters statw that tickets have been sold in the belief that Dr. Furtwangler would conduct.
