BROOKLYN TENEMENT HOUSE COLLAPSE OF A STAIRCASE (Received January. 4, 6.6 p.m.) NEW XORK, Jan. 3 As a climax to a Beries of disastrous fires in tenement houses in the past few months, which have caused many deaths, an old building of the type in a crowded section of Brooklyn was burnt last night. Two firemen were killed and 40 others were injured. A staircase on which some of the firemen were working collapsed, Mid the men were hurled into tho debris and the water-filled cellar. Few local fires have taken such toll of the fire-fighting forces.
