ONEHUNGA METHODISTS

MEETING OF CIRCUIT A lay preacher from the Broad Street Methodist Church, Palmerston North, Mr. R. Howell, was received on transfer at the quarterly meeting of the Onehunga Methodist circuit, which was held on Thursday night, the Rev. E. S. Harkness presiding. Mr. Howeli is to take charge of the young men's Bible class at Penrose.

Congratulations were offered to Mr. H. Harkness on being accepted by the district synod as a candidate for the ministry. Should his candidature be confirmed by the Methodist Conference, which is being held at Dunedin next month, Mr. Harkness will enter Trinity College, Auckland, at the beginning of the next term. Mr. Harkness was elected lay representative to the conference and Mr. F. C. Pace substitute representative. The circuit stewards, Messrs. C. E. Goode and W. Norris, were reappointed. A report of the proceedings of the last district synod meeting was presented by Mr. J. La king. The financial statement for tho quarter showed a credit balance, due mainly to the summer fair, which yielded £26. This is to be divided equally between the circuit and the Onehunga Church fu«d. Harvest festival services will be hcTd throughout the circuit during next month.
