PRACTICALLY SPLIT IN TWO

NEW YORK, Jan. 2

Split practically in two by the tramp freighter Jan Christenson the steamer Lexington, of the Colonial Navigation Company, sank in the East River to-night.

Five members of the crew are missing and 20 people were injured. About 130 passengers and most of 52 members of the crew were rescued by other vessels.

The Lexington was a steamer of 1219 tons. She was built in 1890 and her port of registry was New York.
