FORMER OWNER OF 120,000

ARTIST AND BERNARD SHAW LONDON, Jan. 2 Charles William Channaw, artist, of Camden Town, aged 63 years, who lost a big business in the City after his father had left him a fortune of £20,000, was called upon to pay a fine of 5s at Hampstead on a charge of begging.

Channaw possessed sixpence, two boxes of matches and a note from Mr. George Bernard Shaw scribbled on the back of a sketch which Chanfiaw had sent to the famous author.

" Jf you can draw like this why sell matches?" wrote Mr. Shaw. Channaw had been offered £4 for the sketch, but he had demanded £ls.
