F. 0.8. SALES AT NINE PENCE CHEESE ALSO IMPROVES Prices for New Zealand butter on the London market are Is per cwt. higher at 76s to 775. Cheese is selling at 47s to 48s per cwt., also a rise of Is. According to one cablegram, received yesterday, both markets are Jirm. Another report states that the butter market is slow and cheese is weaker.
Forward business was done up to Monday this week at 9d per lb. f.o.b. for January-February shipment, equal to 78s to 79s per cwt., London. However, no offers since been available.
Merchants have received the following cablegrams, dated January 2, from their London principals;— New Zealand Producers' Co-operative Marketing Association, Limited.—Butter; New Zealand, finest, 775; first, 765. Cheece: White, 47s 6d to 4Ss; coloured, 48s. Both markets are firm. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited.—Butter: Choicest salted, 76s to 775. The market is slow. Cheese: 475. The market is weaker.
