REFUSAL OF HELP
CASE OF DROWNING LAD BOY WITNESS* ALLEGATION Evidence was given in the Sydney Coroner's Court lately at the inquest on Clive Maxwell Cameron, aged nine years, that when he was drowning in Cook's River on. December 18, a man refused to go to his assistance, in spite of the desj>eratc. appeals of the boy's companions."
Robert Burns, aged nine .years, said that he had attempted to save Cameron, although be could not swim, "I walked as far as I could, und then tried to swim," he said. "I was not able to get hold of Cameron, and cot out myself the best . way I could. Cameron was then floating along i:i the channel. Iviy brother George and I ran alone "-ha beach to get help. We told a mau, but he only said, 'Oh, I can't help it.'

Burns said that he found a number of other boys, and went out with them in a boat, but could not find the body. The coroner returned a verdict of accidental death..
