RIFLE SHOOTING
ANNUAL MILITARY MEETING CLARK WINS CHAMPIONSHIP ROBIESON BEST TERRITORIAL ' The Auckland military* rifle meeting was concluded at Penrose on Saturday, when the individual rifle and rifle teams' matches were decided. Conditions were excellent, no detail suffering from a bad patch of weather, as has happened in the last two meetings. In addition, the range organisation was perfect, every competitor having a fair chance at each raJige. The entries exceeded expectations and the shooting was of a uniformly high standard throughout. The meeting was in all respects the most staged in this centre for a long time and the smooth running in every department reflects the greatest credit 011 the staff which carried out the arduous day's work. The open championship was won by C. J M. Clark, of the Auckland City Rsflo Club, by a comfortable margin from JN. A Vear, a member of the Permanent Air Force while C. J. Robieson annexed the territorial belt by a slightly higher margin from Captain E. Boulton. Both are members of the Ist North Auckland Kegiment. The teams' matches were well distributed. The City Rifle Club team retuincd the Hally-"burton-Johnstone Cup for the champion teams' match by one point only, the Air Force being runner-up. In the knock-out plates match a team from Pukckohe representing the Ist Battalion of the Auckland Regiment won from the Air Force, while in the Suffolk match at 200 yards the naval team from H.M.S.
