TYPHOON .OFF CHINA APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE NAVAL VESSEL RESPONPS SALVAGE WORK CHECKED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received October 17, 6.35 p.m.) HONGKONG. Oct. 17 The British salvage tug Taikoo was forced yesterday to leave the wreck of the steamer City of Cambridge owing to typhoon conditions. The master, in a wireless message, said he was endeavouring to return to Hongkong, but the tug was receiving a tremendous buffeting. He asked for immediate assistance. The British minelayer Adventure ia rushing to the tug's assistance. The latter is commanded by Captain Thirwell, and there are two other Britona on board, as well as a, crew of 90 Chinese.
