PARACHUTIST'S FATE

KILLED DURING DISPLAY ROPE CAUGHT IN MACHINE (Received Aiigust 17, 6.25 p.m.) I PARIS, August 16 The spectators at an aviation display at Lemans were horrified to see a girl dangling from the end of a rope 45ft. below an aeroplane. She was Joan Perrod, a parachutist. She had jumped from the aeroplane at an altitude of 1000 ft., but the rope caught in a stop projecting from the cockpit. The pilot endeavoured to land without killing the girl and chose a special landing-place, but she was dashed to pieces. ■
