IMPORTANT NEW FILMS The Gaumont-British Corporation is so satisfied with Lothar Mendes' direction of " Jew Suss," tho £IOO,OOO historical film based on Feuchtwanger's novel, that he has been assigned two more important subjects.

Tho first is " King of the Damned," the "thriller" now running in London West End Theatres. Mr. Miachel Balcon, the director of productions, was so struck with its possibilities that he bought the film rights within 24 hours. Conrad Veidt will play the principal part—that of the leader of a prisoners' mutiny on Devil's Island. Mr. Mendes' other film will be " Anna Karenina," based on Tolstoy's novel.
