WOLVES' LAST STAND

OUTLAWS OF THE ROCKIES The " Wolf King," a new animal story from the wflds, telling of the last bold stand of the big timber wolves of North America against the relentless intrusion and exterminating influences of encroaching civilisation, will make a wide appeal to animal lovers the world over. The author, Mr. J. W. Lippincott, has not only made a close study of the wolves about which he writes, but has actually hunted the pack led by the Wolf King, a name fittingly bestowed on a great black giant, that thwarted the most carefully laid plans of trappers and hunters for many years. The desperate battles in Avhich tho Wolf King engages and his hairbreadth escapes, his triumphs and misfortunes make thrilling reading. The great intelligence of the wolf is revealed and an atmosphere of the wilds pervades the story. If any shortcoming is to be l'ound, it will most likely be regret that the reader cannot follow the Wolf King when he makes his final exit leading the pack from the scene of his victories never to return. Since Mr. Rudyard Kipling's famous Jungle Book perhaps no story has succeeded as well in giving real personalities to tho wolves and other wild animals. " The Wolf King," by J. W. Lippincott.
