YIELDS OF COMPANIES Chapmans (Coromandel). —25i tons were treated for 50oz. 7dwt. Stafford Sluicing (near Hokitika).—» 230z. 2dwt. for 23 shifts. Initial sluieing difficulties have been overcome. Bell-Kilgour (Cromwell). —Last week, 14oz. lldwt.
Golden Dawn (Owharoa).—For tho 12 working days ended August 6 a total of 257 tons of ore was treated for a return of £1274; realisation esti* mated at £7 2s an ounce. King Solomon (Gore). —This week, 83oz. 9dwt. LARGE LUMP OF GOLD The Yalgoo goldfteld, Western Australia, is noted for its rich patches of gold. During June a small mine owner, Air. H. Zuegg, unearthed a lump which, when cleaned and smelted, weighed 165 ounces. It was in tho Shenandoah mine at Gullewa at a depth of 130 ft., where, after taking out ore worth an ounce to the ton, workers struck eight tons of threeounce ore, and then struck the rich prize, worth £1404 in Australian currency. PROSPECTORS AT THAMES [by tblegbafh—own correspondent] THAMES. Friday A total of 320z. 16dwt. of bullion, valued at £BB 14s (3d (without bonus) was won by prospectors employed on tho Thames and Coromandel goidfields under the Unemployment Board's subsidised scheme during July. Four parties in the Thames Borough won 220z. 15dwt., valued at £62 6s 6d; one par.ty in the Thames County had a crushing yielding 6oz. odwt., valued at £l6 6s lid; and three in the Coromandel County returned 3oz. 16dwt., valued at £lO Is Id. Bonuses amounting to £215 6s Sd wero paid out on gold sold between May 8 and June 6.
