CHURCH MEETINGS

MOUNT EDEN PRESBYTERIANS There was a large attendance at tho annual meeting of the congregation, of the Mount Eden Presbyterian Church this week. The minister, th<s Rev. E. J. Tipler, presided. Encouraging reports were received of the various activities of the church. The total membership of the Bible Classes was 116, and of the Sunday School 169. The managers' report referred to the resignations of Mr. L. Moir, who had been secretary to the board for four years, and of Mr. E. M. Edgar, organist and auditor. Mr. F. P. Montgomery was re-elected to the board of managers, and Messrs. D. Ball and J. Gray were elected to the board. PROGRESS OF ST. PHILLIP'S Appreciative reference to the financial condition of St. Phillip's Presbyterian Church, Point Chevalier, wa3 made at the annual meeting of tho congregation by- the Moderator, tho Rev. T. Halliday, who presided. Mr. Halliday congratulated tho church on tho fact that membership had doubled in the last two years.

It was reported that there were over 200 scholars and teachers in tho Sunday School, while the Christian Endeavour group had a membership of 90. Over 40 young people attended tho Bible classes, tennis, cricket and basketball teams having been carried on. Nine ybung mon had taken part in services at other churches.

O'POT KI, Friday

The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Opotiki, was presided over b.y tho vicar, the Rev. C. G. Salt.

The repol-t stated that tho financial position was satisfactory, there being a credit balance at the bank, with no overdraft, at the end of the financial year. This was in a measure clue to the receipt of a gift of £2OO. The number of Easter communicants was 169, which exceeded all previous records. The following officers were elected: — Vicar's warden, Mr. W. Anderson; people's warden, Mr. F. C. Fast; Hvnodsman, M. J. Taylor; vestry, Messrs. Baigent, Morrell, Upton, Boon, Kururangi, Macdonald, Manning, Burton, Pearson, Medley, Anstis and Shore.
