DEBATING CONTEST

The Workers' Educational Association debating team met the representatives of Leys Institute Debating Society under the auspices of the Auckland Athenaeum Literary and Debating Societies Union on Thursday night. The subject was "That capitalism is antagonistic to and inconsistent with the highest ethical ideals." The Workers' Educational Association, represented by Miss M. Martin, Mr. B. Martin and Mr. J. S. Stewart, gained the verdict from the judge, Mr. W. J. Lyon, by 266 points to 258. The Leys Institute team comprised Messrs. K. Stuart, S. R. Cox and P. J. Luxford.
