WHANGAREI HARBOUR
DECISIONS OF BOARD [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Friday The Whangarei Harbour Board decided to-day to support the Whangarei Borough Council in its efforts to have stand-down week for the unemployed abolished. At the request of the council, which has decided to provide work for: 20 unemployed over the next stand-down week, the board decided to act similarly with regard to the lo men employed by the board. The board agreed to meet the Onerahi Town Board in conference to consider the extension of the Onerahi launch jetty. . The board unanimously supported a resolution carried at Dargaville, requesting the .Prime Minister to complete the Tangowahine-Dargaville railway. It was decided not to combine with the Whangarei Borough Council, County Council and Whangarei Aero Club, in the promotion of the necessary legislation for the formation of an air port board on lines similar to that of New Plymouth. The chairman, Mr J. A. Finlayson, said the Harbour Board would, in' all probability, be approached for a site for an aerodrome, and, in consequence, it would be wiser for the board not to join the Air Port Board.
