ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
ANOTHER NURSE REQUIRED MANY INFLUENZA PATIENTS Owine to the rapid increase in the demand for the services of members of the St. John Ambulance nursing division. it has been decided by the association to appoint another trained nurse to the staff until the number of cases diminishes. The majority of the patients attended have been suffering from influenza, and in some instances whole families have been stricken.
Speaking at the quarterly meeting of the general committee of the association on Thursday night, the chairman, Mr. C. J. Tunk's, said the number of cases had increased from 956 in May to 1319 last month. He did not know where the money was coming from to pay the salary of the additional nurse, but the appointment was essential, particularly as the majority of the people requiring attention were in poor circumstances. If they were not attended, thev would become patients for hospital treatment.
