1 WILLIAMSON OPERA COMPANY i At His Majesty's Theatre to-night the J. C. Williamson, Limited, management will present for the first time in New Zealand the spectacular musical play "The Dubarry." in which Misp Sylvia Welling will make her debut in the role in which she achieved a notable triumph in London. A full scenic and lighting rehearsal took place last night uurler the supervision of Mr. Victor Tatnall, the stage director. Svlvia Welling; it is stated, rises to her full stature as a temperamental actress. Her duets with John Dudley are among the best musical treats of the production, and her voice is heard at its best in "I Give My Heart" and "'Happy Littlo Jeanne." John Dudley, the young Australian tenor, has achieved an outstanding success ir. the role of Rene LavalJory. Mr. Cecil Kellaway, as the Marquis ile la Marche, provides much of the comedy. He is ably assisted, by Jean Gibson, who plays the part of Margot. Leslio Holland, as the Gomte Dubarry, has added another fine character sketch to his long list of successful impersonations, and Mr. Kichard Parry, it is said, looks and acts the role of Louis XV. to the verj life. Miss Ivy Kirby is an accomplished and talented artist and dancer, and others who play important parts are Louis Vernon, Jean Duncan, Lorna Forbes, Clifford Cowley, Cecil Pawley and Douglas Herald. "Waltzes from Vienna" will also be staged during the season.
