DAMAGE TO ROADS
CARTING DURING WINTER A report that considerable damage had been done to the Waitakere-West Coast Road through the carting of logs luid firewood durinc the winter months was presented at a meeting of the Waitemata County Council yesterday, by the engineer, Mr. L. F. Faram. The report stated that, an'riv? of the county's metalled rowds were classified i». fourth claa.*, wa*m they were not miljy vapabio of carrying the traffic during the winter. The classified weight on tin road in question had not been exceeded. The enginoer said ho intended to interview the Public Works Department, to see if it was not possible under the Public Works Act to close certain roads for carting during the winter months.
