THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE AN IMPROVED INQUIRY Inquiry for general investment issues on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday showed improvement, and some advances on sale were recorded. The turnover was ' restricted largely to banks and industrials. A strong demand for Government loans ""as maintained, and higher offers were made for the 3£ per cents. Supplies were scarce, and no business was done. In banks inquiry was chiefly for the New Zealand issues. The demand for Bank of New Zealands was firmer and a parcel was accepted 4d higher at '47s. A sale m Reserve Banks 3d dearer at £6 7s .'ld was followed by an unsatisfied demand for more at the price. Offers for New South Wales were lifted, holders being silent. Commercials dropped 2d all round on the bidding. The insurance group was inactive, there being a slight easing in levels for South British. Buyers showed greater interest iri many industrials. Offers for Colonial Sugars were raised by 10s to £65 10s, at which price a sale, also 10s higher, took place. Auckland Gas were done 2d higher at 25s 3d, while two parcels of Wellington Gas changed hands '3d lower at 40s On sale at 12s l.Jd, Kaiapoi Woollens established a gain of 11 Jd. Taranaki Oils dropped 3d on u transfer at 2s, trading at current values being completed in Traders' Finance, 7s/ 6d paid, Consolidated Bricks, Farmers' Tradings and Farmers' Fertilisers.
