ALTITUDE FLIGHTS
WILEY POST PREPARING PLANS FOR GREAT RACE (Received August 17, 7.55 p.m.) LONDON, August Vf Mrs. Amy Mollisgn, in an article in the Daijy Mail, states that Mr. Wiley Post is busily preparing the aeroplane Winnie Mao for experimental stratosphere flights. He intends to attempt to create a new world's altitude record, also a high T altitude flight across America, If Mr. Post is successful he will adopt the same method in the Centenary race with the object of completing the journey in two days. Nevertheless, says Mrs. Mollison, even if h.e realises hit l , dreams of a speed of 350 miles an hour at a height of 40,000 feet, he will still need to calculate carefully thg time required for climbing to ascertain v'hether extra speed will compensate for it, especially on the shorter hops.
