June 18 The Australian cricketers to-day resumed tho match against tho Gentlemen of England at Lord's. Their Majesties the King and Queen received the Australian team at Windsor Castle yesterday. Tho Australian score when stumps were drawn on Saturday was six wickets for 164, in reply to the Gentlemen's first innings total of 177. The hottest day of the tour greeted the Australians to-day. Before passing the Gentlemen's score the visitors lost Chipperfield, who, in playing forward, was badly beaten and bowled by llead. Barnett went out in attempting to hit Holmes, and eight wickets were down for 178. Then Grimmett and Ebeling figured in a solid stand before Brown's leg-break beat Ebeling, who was caught at the wicket. Grimmett and Wall raised the score to 200 in 175 minutes, the latter batting exceptionally well. Tho innings closed for 230, and occupied 190 minutes. Brown bowled well, improving his test match prospects. The Gentlemen opened their second innings half an hour before lunch. Dawson was bowled by Wall in tho latter's second over. The score at lunch was 33 for one wicket.
