CHARGE OF MURDER
MARRIED WOMAN ARRESTED NEW SOUTH WALES CASE (Received June 18, G. 55 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 18 Detectives, after an exhaustive inquiry into the affairs of Mr. John Ryan, who was murdered at Barry, in the Blayney district, arrested Charlotte Fowler, aged 58, a married woman, on a charge of having committed the crime. She was remanded until July 10. Mr. John Ryan, aged 79, a retired farmer, was found shot on June 11. Mr. Ryan was dead. His body was in a sitting posture in an armchair in an isolated cottage, where he had lived by himself, on his son's property. The detectives ascertained that Mr. Ryan formerly- was a wealthy man. He sold a large' portion of his property to his two sons at a nominal figure, but the residue of the property disappeared in some unaccountable way. A _ bullet wound in the victim's head disclosed that he was shot at fairly close range, possibly while he was asleep in front of the- fire.
