THE GOOD COMPANIONS
METHODIST WOMEN'S GUILD Under tliQ auspices of the St. John's Methodist Women's Guild, the Remuera "Good Companions Company" presented an excellent programme, comprising three one-act plays, in the schoolroom last evening. "Between the Soup and the Savoury" was well performed by Misses Olive Allnutt, Kathleen Winstone and Kathleen French. The second play entitled "The Patchwork Quilt" was much appreciated, thoso responsible for, the respective parts being Misses Rita A\ illiams, Muriel Partridge, Joy Bishop, Zena Ready and Messrs. Edgar Lewi,sham and Selwyn Cole. An excellent rendering of the play "The Bishop's Candlesticks" was . given by Misses Gwen French, Marjorie Penn, Messrs. F. Penn, H. W. Wedding, E. Lewisham 'and S. Cole. During the interval between the plays Mesdames Gwen de Berg, Keith Harrison and H. S. Hurle rendered vocal items, which were warmly received by the audience, Mrs. Reg Re id and Miss Gwen French acting as accompanists. The former also played a pianoforte solo. At the conclusion of the first play Sirs. Geo. Smith, secretary of the St. John's Guild, thanked Miss Allnutt (producer), for bringing the company to Ponsonby, for which she voiced the guild's appreciation, and presented her with a bouquet. The entertainment was enthusiastically received by a large audience. The thanks of the trustees and church officials were expressed at the close by the Rev. G. T. Laurenson to all the members of the "Good Companions Company."
