PEDESTRIAN'S DEATH

VERDICT AT INQUEST MOTOR-CYCLIST EXONERATED [BY TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT] TE AKOEA, Monday An inquest into the death of William Shaw was concluded this afternoon before Mr. N. Bay, coroner. William John Stephens said he was riding a motor-cycle when deceased stepped out into the roadway and a collision could not be averted. Evidence corroborating this was given by R. H. Galloway, W. Galbraith. W. F. Stewart and W. A. Clark. A verdict was returned that death was due to injuries received by deceased being accidentally knocked down by a motor-cycle ridden by John William Stephens, no blame being attachable to the motor-cycle rider, who did everything possible to avoid a collision.
