AUSTRALIAN EXCHANGES GOLD SHARES FLUCTUATE SLUMP IN ONE ISSUE (Received June 18. 8.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 18 On the Sydney Stock Exchange it has become almost a habit recently to devote the day to gold shares, and the morning and afternoon calls have been unduly prolonged over this class of business. A feature to-day was the setback to Tulfaniore gold share*, in which there has been considerable activity. These shares a month ago were quoted at 33s 6d. To-day, after opening at 14s 6d, they slumped to 12s, due to a heavy "beat*'' raid. Solid Western Australian ventures, however, are maintaining a strong front. The investment market was irregular. The picture theatre group weakened owing to the publication on .Saturday of the Royal Commission's report against the restriction of further cinema licences for additional theatres. This morning's sales included: —Commonwealth 4 ix?r cent bonds, 1938, £lOl 10s; Australian Gas, A shares. £7 17s; Tooth's Brewery, 42s 6d; Anthony Hordern, 14s 2d; Associated News, preference, 23s lid; Broken Hill Proprietary, 45ss Burns-Philp, 535.
