UNCOMPLETED RAILWAY
WAIROA-NAPIER LINE REQUEST TO MINISTER [BY TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPOIvDEXT] GISBORNE, Friday The uncompleted railway between Wairoa and Napier was mentioned to the Minister of Lands, Hon. E. A. Ransom, by a deputation at Wairoa last night. The subject was only referred to briefly, but . the audience derived some consolation from the fact that the Minister declared himself against a policy of having uncompleted railways. The Mayor, Mr. H. L. Harker, said that since February nothing further had been heard of the Railway Board's intentions. He hoped the Minister, after seeing the district and realising the small amount of money required to complete the line and also the heavy
damage being done to roads, would lend his support in getting the* railway completed. The Minister said th_at after his visit to the district he would be in a position to speak with first-hand knowledge when he went back to Wellington. He did not agree with a policy of unfinished railways.
