FAMILY ABSENT AT SHOW [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI, Friday An eight-roomed house, at llunkaka. near Waipu, owned by Mrs. Mary Slako. storekeeper, was destroyed by fire last night. Mrs. Slako, who is a widow, came to Whancaroi in tho evening, with her two sons to visit tho Whangarci Winter Show. When they returned late at night they found the house had been destroyed together with all the contents. The store, which is near bv, was not damaged. Tho house and furniture were insured with the South British office for £7OO.
