DRINKS FOR A JURY
Arriving at an inquest at a Derby- j shire inn recently, the coroner found j that the jury had just ordered a round j of drinks. " We can't go on like this during the inquiry," was the coroner's mild reproof." " It will not take long, and then your time is your own.". The jury drained their glasses, ant! the inquest proceeded. The incident recalls an experience of the late Dr. 111. M. Grace, the 1 well-known Gloucestershire cricketing brother of " W.G." He was a coroner I for one of the county divisions, and j when he was late for an inquest on one occasion the jury " fined " him by ordering drinks at his expense. He protested, as he had been detained at another inquest, but he eventually footed I the bill. i
