For the 4 per cents, buyers raised their limits bv from 10s to los, 13ut sellers generally were silent, and 110 business took place. Two parcels of Auckland Harbour / Hoard debentures changed hands at high levels, in one case a rise of £5 5s being established over last year's sale price. There was ;i slightly better inquiry for banks. New Zealands were placed at ols fid, and English, Scottish and Australian at £5 Bs, both unchanged rates. Nationals of Australasia, £5 paid, gained 4s in a transfer at £6 lis. Insurance shares bad strong support. South British being active 011 sale at 80s, a rise of Gd Firmer movements in levejs accompanied sales of Dominion Fertilisers lid higher at 18s, and of Wilsons Cements 3d dearer- at 28s 3d. Devonport Ferry lost Is in a transaction at 235, and Bycrofts were placed at 475, h reduction of only Gd on cum dividend business. More active conditions ruled in th.j mining market. Waihi Junctions moved upward; and, after early business Id dearer at 4s lOd, supplies were vainlv sought at 4s lid. Ma ha ki pa was also appreciated on sale, but King Solomons were easier.
