USEFUL EFFORTS RECORDED LORD VAL AND TIMOROUS SCHOOLING OF JUMPERS BY ARCHER The weather was showery and the tracks holding' for training operations at Ellerslie yesterday and no fast times were recorded, although a good deal of interesting work was accomplished on .the No. 2 grass. Among the best efforts •were five furlongs by Lord Yal and Timorous in 1.5 3-5 and a half-mile by King Musk and Moonfleet in 525. On the grass Versant strode over six furlongs at an even pace. Wee Musk and Free Air covered half a mile in 65 2-ss. They finished together. Gay Broney gave Horowhcnua a break of several lengths and. was on terms with him at the conclusion of seven furlongs in '1.33' 1-5, the last half-mile taking 53 4-ss. Gay Bronc-y is doing his work solidly and is in great heart. Horowhenua is on tho improve and should perform creditably in the hack class at To Rapa.
