OBITUARY

MR. C. CHAVANNES [by tki.kcrapii—PIUCSS association] WANG AN UI, Thursday The death is announced of Mr. Charles Chavannes, aged 80, one of Wanganui's oldest and most respected citizens. In earlier days lie was well known throughout the Dominion for his skill as a billiards player, for his gun club shooting, and as a bowler. He was also prominent in racing circles. CAPTAIN ROBERT KIRK [BIT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] OHRISTCHtJRCH, Thursday The death has occurred of Captain Robert Kirk, aged 90 years. Ho was formerly well known in the coastal shipping trado. He spent his early days in Dunedin and was later at Nelson. At one time ho owned the schooner John Bell, which was wrecked near Wellington.
