McLean has been appointed secretary of t*ie New Zealand Poultry Board, and wiil take up his duties on June 1. Mr. Owen Rainger, who has been on a business visit to England and tfio Continent, will return to Auckland by tho Mariposa to-day.

Mr. C. M. Paynter, manager for New Zealand for Godfrey Phillips (New Zealand), Limited, will arrive in Auckland by the limited express this morning. Ho will leave for Melbourne by the Mariposa.
Mr. F. W. Mothes, managing director of the Goldberg Advertising Agency, Limited, will arrive in Auckland this morning by the limited express and will leave by the Mariposa later in the day for Sydney.
Mr. John Barr, chief librarian to ths Auckland City Council, who has been on a tour of New Zealand with Mr. Ralph Munn, of Pittsburgh, representing the Carnegie Corporation, returned from the South yesterday, accompanied by Mrs. Barr.
The Rev. F. G. Harvie, vicar of St. Barnabas' Church, Mount Eden, and Mrs. Harvie left last evening for Wellington. to join the Rotorua for P'ngland, accompanied hy two of their sons, who arc to enter Oxford University. Tie Rev. H. G. Taylor, assistant curate, will be in charge of the parish during Mr. Harvie's absence of about six months.
Mr. Ralph Munn, director of the Carnegie Library, Pittsburgh, who has been on a three weeks' tour of New Zealand with Mr. John Barr, Auckland chief librarian, for the purpose of reporting to the Carnegie Corporation upon the library system of tho Dominion, returned to Auckland hy motor-car yesterday afternoon, accompanied by Mrs. Munn. They are at ilia Station Hotel, and- will leave by the Mariposa to-day for Australia, where. Mr. Munn is to make a similar survey. In the course of the tour they travelled 3000 miles and visited 49 libraries.
