MINIATURE SCOW
LONDON MUSEUM EXHIBIT BUILT BY AUCKLANDER A model scow, about two feet long, has been built to the order of an official of the South Kensington Museum, London, by Mr. Roger Fenton, of Portland Road, Renuiera, and the model will be sent to London to-day by the Karamea. It will be exhibited in the museum. The model has been completed after months of patient work. Built of kauri, it is a replica of the well-known Auckland scow Rangi, and everything on the model has been built to scale. The size of the replica is one forty-eighth of that of the Rangi, which is 98ft, long and has a beam of 27ft. The museum official ordered the model when he was visiting New Zealand about two years ago, and became interested in the construction of the New Zealand type of scow. The shipping section of the South Kensington Museum contains models of almost every type of vessel in the world, but at present there is no replica of the New Zealand scow.
Mr. Fenton has had previous experience in building small boats, and has specialised in model yachts.
