MANY ANNUAL CONTESTS' KING'S COLLEGE EVENTS* 'RACES COMMENCED YESTERDAY The King's College annual athletic sports were commenced at Midcllemore yesterday, when 34 events were decided. Tho conditions were ideal. In previous years the programme has been j carried through in one day, hut this year the ■ sports' committee decided to extend the competitions over two days and so enable the boys to tenter more fully into the various contests. In addition to the open and handicap events tho programme, which comprises over 60 events, includes the school championship and senior and junior cup contests. OTAHUHU HIGH SCHOOL HOUSE TROPHY TO HOBSON The annual sports of the Otahuhu Technical High School were held yesterday in the presence of a large' attendance. The conditions were» ideal and keen competition was witnessed. . ' PUKEKOHE, Friday Held at Bledisloe Park to-day in 4 excellent weather, the Franklin primary schools' sixth annual Bports meeting attracted a larjfe number of spectators. A 14-year-old competitor from Pukekohe pohool Bert Wood, won the 100 yards in his division in 12s', the 220 yards in 295. and the 120 yards hurdle race in 18s. _ Another 14-year-old Pukekohe representative, George Smith, qovered 880 yards in 2m 34 l-ss, and 440 yards in lm 9s. ' The outstanding girl runner was Phyllis Sommerville, Mauku. who won the 100 yards flat races for girls under 15 years, 14 years and 13 xgars. •' ' i The 50 yards for btjys under eight was won by Warwick Revell. Pukekohe, in 7s. Pukekoho East was successful in the boys tunnel ball competition, and Puni in the girls' overhead ball.
