NATURE'S WAY IS BEST
HEALTHY FUNCTIONING The healthily functioning intestine does not require any outside assistance from drugs. If your dietary is properly apportioned, containing a daily dose of brown bread, vegetables, and fruit juice, and you are faking care to have some regular exercise each day to prevent your muscular system, specifically the abdominal muscles, from losing tone, you should never be troubled by constipation. Make a point of acquiring a regular time for the daily habit This makes all the difference. Under the conditions of civilised life, however, our ideal or living is the exception rather than the rule. Wherefore the trustworthy aperient has a valued place in the dispensary. There are many safe and eliective aperients from which to choose. The syrup of figs is capital for children, so is the confection of sulphur and senna. The old-fashioned brimstone ' and treacle, though distasteful, might be •• employed more often, for it is a.n excellent " regulator " of the_ blood, apart from its laxative properties. Value of Liquid Paraffin Liquid;paraffin is absolutely safe, because it acts by lubrication and is nonirritating. It should be taken at night rather than in the morning. Many sufferers from chronic intestinal slug- i gishness have taken it over a number of j -years without harmful results. . j Salines, seidlitz powders, and fruit , salts, etc., are mildly acting and xisually j perfectly safe to take upon rising in the morning. An occasional dose will prove beneficial Avoid taking them regularly everv morning in strong doses over a long period of time, or you may —at least with the stronger saltsestablish a chronic inflammation of the bowel through the too-exacting irritation.
