THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE / ' QUIET DEMAND RULES A quiet demand ruled for most investment shares on the Auckland Stock Exchange Yesterday, moderate business being recorded. Buying support for Government loans was maintained at the higher levels. The 1955 4 per cent bonds were transferred at £lO2 10s and the 1949 4 per cent stock at £lO3 ss, , & rise of 10s in each case. A parcel of Auckland City, 1965, 5J per cent debentures had sale at £lO2 10s, a gain of £2 10s since last August. There /' were slight' fluctuation:; in offers for banks, no sales taking place. New Zealands were sought at an advance, but the demand eased for New South Wales and Unions. Buyers advanced their limits for New Zealand and South British Insurance. The latter were released twice 6d dearer at 76s 6d. Substantial business was done ■in Auckland Gas, three sales 3d lower at 24s 9d being accompanied by a slight firming in offrjrs. The contributing issue was placed unchanged at 18s 3d, with more available at the price. Golds-brough-Mort3 registered a gain of 3d in a transaction at 335, and Colonial Sugars were done os higher at £64 10s. Electrolytic Zinc changed hands 3d lower at 26s 9d. Sales at unchanged i values were completed in Union Steams, preference, and Kauri Timbers. In Waihi Mining easier movements have succeeded the sharp advance and levels showed a drop of Pd and 6d respectively. Two lots changed hands 6d cheaper at 365. Waihi Junctions moved in sympathy. A parcel of Talisman Dubbos was accepted 3d higher at 8s 6d and King Solomons gained 2d on Bale at 4s 3d. • / CLOSING QUOTATIONS
