TRUCK AXLES BREAK
TWO MISHAPS YESTERDAY Two instances of motor-trucks breaking axles and causing inconvenience to traffic occurred yesterday. A short delay occurred in the tram service at Onehunga at 11.30 a.m., when a heavy motor-truck stopped on the line in Queen Street through the rear axle breaking and a wheel becoming detached. Traffic was delayed until the load of cement was removed and the truck dragged to the side of the road.
The second mishap occurred at the junction of Remuera Road and Broadway, Newmarket, the middle axle of a large six-wheeled motor-truck breaking at 3.30. Two hours were occupied in removing the load of barrels of bitumen and dismantling the, middle set of wheels. The accident occurred clear of the tram lines and the only inconvenience was that to motor traffic.
