SHIPMENT OF BANANAS EGGS RISE Id A DOZEN Heavy supplies of apples and pears were available at the City Markets yesterday, but good grades met with a satisfactory demand. There was a slight rise in values for peaches owing to supplies lessening. Mushrooms were easier in price, inquiry being less keen. Unchanged prices ruled for tomatoes, which sold readily. A fresh shipment of bananas arrived on Monday, and there wcr/3 ample supplies for the demand. Te Kamvhata grapes were cheaper, but hothouse sold at late rates.

Supplies of potatoes were not heavy and prices tended to rise. Knmaras were offered freely and values were easier. Large quantities of pumpkins and onions camo forward and prices were a shade lower. Beans and green peas also dropped in price for the same reason.

Some lines of poultry were cheaper, owing to the largo supplies available. There was a further advance of Id a dozen in values for eggs. HIDE MARKET STEADY GOOD INQUIRY MAINTAINED MOST PRICES UNCHANGED A satisfactory demand for hides and sheepskins was mnintained nt the fortnightly sale held by Auckland brokers yesterday. Most values were unchanged, although cow hides and calfskins appreciated slightly. Tallow sold at late rates. Owing to the Eiister holidays the _ next sale will bo held on Thursday, April 5. SALE OF WARNER'S HOTEL

NEW COMPANY'S VENTURE

The old established Warner's Hotel in Cathedral Square is being acquired shortly by' Licensed Freeholds. Limited, of whom Mr. B. Reginald Collins, of Christchurcb, is managing director. It is understood the capital of the company is £45,000, mostly subscribed by South Island investors, but some by North Islanders with interests in tho South Island.

Mr. Collins said to-day that Warner's Hotel was the first licensed property to bo acquired by Licensed Freeholds, Limited. The intention was to acquire other hotels in the main centres, but tho company's first interests would bo in tho South Island.

The Te A roll a-Thames Valley Cooperative Dairy Company, Limited, made the usual monthly advance payment to shareholders yesterday at the rate of 7d per lb. butter-fat (farm gate), in respect of February supply.

GOLD AND SILVER QUOTATIONS IN LONDON LONDON, March 19 Fine gold is quoted to-day at £6 16s 6d an oz., same as on Saturday. Silver is quoted at 19|d an oz. spot and 19 15-16 d forward, compared with 20id and 20 5-16 d on Saturday. The quotation for silver at'per fine oz. is 21 7-lGd, compared with 21! d on March 16.
