OBITUARY

MBS. M. A. BROWN [FROM OCR own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday Tho death occurred in Hamilton today of Commandant Mary Amelia Brown, of'the Salvation Army, Hamilton, at tho age of 69 years. Mrs. Brown was the daughter of tho lato Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Rogers, and was born in Devonport, England. She joined tho Salvation Army there in ISSB, and left in IS9S for Australia. She married Mr. E. A. Brown at Woolloongabba in 1599. Mr. Brown was an ensign in tho Salvation Army, and later he became an adjutant. Mr. and Mrs. Brown were transferred to New Zealand in 190-5, and after serving with tho Salvation Army at Mosgiel, tbev were stationed in various parts of New Zealand. From 191/ to 1923, Mr. and Mrs. Brown were in charge of tho Boys' Homo at Island Bay, "Wellington. Both then held the rank of commandant. They retired and lived at Teinuka, where Mr. Brown died in 1928. Mrs.* Brovra then came' to Hamilton, where she lived until tho time of her death. She continued to take a keen interest in the Salvation Army.

Tuesday The death has occurred of Mr. George Sherwin Langfoid, who for the past 10 years has been mine manager at tho Linton Coal Company's mine at Ohai. He was the first to introduce electricity into the Southland coal mines, and realising the coal-bearing nature of the Ohai district, was the first to advocate extensive boring operations there.
