ATTENDANCE AT FUNERAL WIDESPREAD SYMPATHY Tributes of sorrow were paid by several hundred Auckland citizens yesterday at tho funeral of Mr. E. R. .Boucher, president of tho Auckland Aero Club, who died on Sunday from injuries received in an aeroplane accident near Wellington, in which Mr. L. W. Swan, secretary of tho club, was injured. There was a largo muster of officials, pilots, pupils and associate members of the club, and wreaths and messages of condolence with Mr. Boucher's widow and family wcro sent by flying organisations throughout tho Dominion. Mr. Boucher's firm, Radio, Limited, local I authorities, business houses, the radio J trade and many clubs and societies were represented at the funeral. I'lying at tho Mangcro aerodrome was suspended for tho day as a mark of respect. Telegraphic messages of sympathy were received by Mrs. Boucher from tho Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe, and from tho Minister of Industries and Commerce, tho Hon. J\. Masters. Energy and Courage A service for members of the family was conducted at tho house in Gilgit Avenue by the Rev. C. G. Scriingeour, minister of tho "Friendly Road" organisation and a former captain of tho Auckland Aero Club. Mr. Scriingeour also performed the last rites at Waikaraka Cemetery. The chief mourners wero Mr. W. A. Boucher, brother, and Mr. C. H. White and Mr. R. G. White, brothers-in-law - . Tho coffin was borno by six of tho deceased's oldest friendsj Mr. F. Alpe, Mr. F. O'Gorman, Mr. H. Hemus, Mr. D. Roberts, Mr. 11. Coe and Mr. W. A. Bush. Nearly 150 cars were in the cortege and two were required to earn - wreaths, which numbered about 250. A large and beautiful wreath from tho Auckland Aero Club was tied with ribbons in tho club's colours. A friend sent an emblem representing a pair of wings, carried out in white flowers. , Li a brief address at the graveside,' Mr. Scriingeour said that Mr. Boucher had communicated something of his energy and courage to all who knew him. Many had come that day to pay a tributo of silent respect to ono they loved, perhaps also to receive inspiration from the memory of his character and lifo. It must surely be gratifying to him to know that his friend and companion had been spared, for his first thought in any extremity would always have been for tho man in the passenger scat in front of him. At the close of the service Mr. Scriingeour repeated tho lines from Laurenco Binyon's "For the Fallen," beginning, "They shall not grow old as we that aro left grow old." Representative Mourners
